This book promotes a more community based approach to Assisted Living, and covers the basic concepts of assisted living, age-related changes, aging in place, the need to develop a compensating environment, effective communication, dealing with death and the dying, and spirituality issues. Written with thoughtfulness and compassion, anyone who has the task of meeting the needs of the elderly will find here a sensitive awareness of their burdens and a practical body of information of immediate usefulness.
“Karen Stratoti has authored the right book at just the right time! Excellence in Caring allows the reader to strike a delicate balance between senior living strategies and numbers and the very important human factors involving both residents and staff. The book is a must read for anyone who seriously wants to proceed up assisted living’s learning curve while optimizing standards of care and quality of life.”
